It's That Time of Year
Sadly, it's the time of year for colds. I started the cycle in our house last Thursday, Ryan and Jackson followed on Friday, and by the weekend Diddles (Parker) had joined in on the "fun". By Monday, however, I was becoming a little more concerned about Parker because he was so snotty he was having a hard time nursing. So, while Ryan and Jackson were at swim class, Parker and I went to the pediatrician. Once the doctor did his initial assessment, he told me that he was "concerned" about the way Parker looked and wanted to run some blood work. So, after a few hours at the doctor and a few more hours at home (and of course, me calling off work for that night just in case), Parker is just sick with a "flu-like cold." Luckily he seemed to feel significantly better today!
Today was a pretty busy day at our house. The boys decided to wake up early, I went to finally get my driver's license changed from Georgia to Ohio, I ran errands and cleaned the living room and kitchen. I also decorated our table for Christmas. Ryan and I made dinner for his parents, and then Ryan and his dad installed our gate between the living room and kitchen while Mema and I watched the boys! Ryan also got a ton of work done today!
Tomorrow will hopefully be another productive day! I'm going to leave you with a cute pic of Parker eating! :)

Woah! I guess We've Been Busy!
Hi everyone! I'm so sorry it has been so long since I've last blogged! Life around here has been awfully crazy, but that is still no excuse! Here is a short and sweet update on our lives!
Parker:
At his four month appointment, Parker weighed almost 16 pounds! He had an endoscopy in November to check his upper GI tract to see if that is why he was spitting up some blood, but luckily, it came back normal! After another night in the hospital and going under anaesthesia for the procedure, they determined he is having small nose bleeds and then spitting up the blood. :( Despite those complications, he is now doing wonderful! I heard him say "ma ma" the other day (yay!) and he is always full of giggles and coos. He can also lift his head during tummy time and can sit assisted! :)
Jackson:
At his 18-month appointment, Jackson weighed approximately 23.5 pounds and measured 31 inches tall! We had his holiday party at his preschool last Friday, and he had a blast singing songs, decorating cookies, and playing bag toss! His best buddy, Theo, just started going to his school too! He's also finishing up this session's swim class at the YMCA, and he is turning into a little fish!
Ryan:
My wonderful husband is super busy with work! He passed his function point specialist certification exam back in October (a prestigious national exam that has something to do with his work) and has been spending lots of time doing amazing things! He has also been recognized a few times by his company for being super-hero awesome although I know he wouldn't brag about it to anyone. (I really hope Ryan doesn't read this because he would either a) be embarrassed or b) not like the way I'm describing his awesomeness. Honestly, it's late, I'm tired, and I don't feel like explaining all of his awards and certifications in laymans terms. Just imagine Po from Kung Fu Panda saying "sheer awesomeness" and know that he's talking about Ryan.
Me:
I finished this semester with a 4.0! Woot woot! I also started working as a substitute Public Services Assistant with the Akron-Summit County Public Library. I changed my grad school specialization from Academic Reference to Childrens / Teen Librarianship. I had a killer migraine for three days that resulted in the temporary loss of vision in my right eye (trip to the ER, Head CT, MRI, lots of quality time with Ryan's Dad who I am thankful was able to sit with me through all of it and keep me sane). Oh, and I registered for three classes and two workshops next semester! Yikes! I know I'm crazy!
So, yeah, I guess that's life. Oh, add in a super busy schedule, joining my church's relay for life team, holidays, parties, going to a drive-through zoo, Ryan's 27th birthday, our 4 year wedding anniversary trip to Niagara Falls, Canada!, Jackson's first hair cut, Parker starting solids, trick or treating at 4 different places, etc. etc. etc. and you can imagine our life the last few months!
Here's a quick pic to leave you with!

Home from Pennsylvania
Hi everyone,
We made it home from Pennsylvania tonight. I was hoping to upload pictures, but my camera is tucked away in one of our bags, and I don't feel like unpacking them all to find it. So, for tonight, my words will have to do. :)
Parker is sick. He started running a temp tonight (101.4) but otherwise he is acting normally. I just put him down to bed, so I'm quickly making my way that direction too. Who knows what the night could bring...
Tomorrow I'm taking Jackson to story time at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public library and then headed to Zumba at the Y tomorrow night. Other than that, our family plan is to get some cleaning done around the house, unpack bags, laundry, and finish my information policy brief which is due on Tuesday. A grocery list and a trip to the store would be smart too!
Hope all is well!

Anna

A Crazy Few Weeks
Hi everyone,
I'm so disappointed with myself that I haven't updated the blog in the last few weeks. Things have been insanely busy and crazy. Here is the quick update:
Parker has been terribly ill. He was hospitalized at one point (while Ryan was out of town in Alabama of course) and has been back and forth to the pediatrician so many times I've lost count. The short story is that he is allergic to milk protein, peanuts, and possibly soy and eggs. So, I have had to cut all of that out of my diet so that it doesn't get to him through the breastmilk. We've also started him on a reflux medicine which seems to help. It was so scary though because he had terrible explosive diapers and had blood in his stool and was vomiting blood. I'm so thankful he is finally doing better. This is a picture of Ryan feeding him a bottle in the hospital once Ryan finally made it home to join us:
Jackson has been doing very well. He's walking now!! He walks all over the place and is actively getting into everything. He has become so independent! We went and toured a school for him earlier this week. Hopefully he will begin next week! Here he is being mischievous (as always!)
About two weeks ago, I "painted the rock" on campus with the Kent's student chapter of the American Library Association for Banned Books Week. The rock says, "We Read Banned Books." I felt like such a delinquent...it was amazing!
We're all in Pennsylvania right now with Dad Scho visiting Mommaw, so hopefully I'll have some great pictures for you tomorrow!
Sorry again for being a slacker. I'll do better!
With love,
Anna

Daddy Time
Today, I had a meeting on campus at 2pm so I left both boys with Ryan for two hours while I went to Kent. This is the mayhem that occurred while I was away:
Luckily, I returned home to find the boys all in one piece, my house only slightly destroyed, and a very happy group of men. :)
Ryan leaves for Alabama on Monday (he'll be gone until Friday) so our next few days will be crazy busy in preparation for his trip. Mainly, I need to get my school work complete so life won't be as demanding. We'll see how it goes!

Zumba!
Today was my first Zumba class at the YMCA.... it was awesome!!
Jackson also said two new words today: "bou" for balloon and "book". That increases his vocabulary to 7 words! ("dada" "ka" for cat, "baby", "bou" for balloon, "book", "nan na" for Anna (he doesn't call me Mama), and bye bye)

Bothering Parker
Opening the Dresser and Emptying Ryan's Boxers
Discovered the Outlet and Tried to Remove Outlet Covers
Found the Vacuum Cleaner Cord and Tried to Eat It
Emptied All Toy Boxes in Bedroom
Dumped Out All Socks to be Folded and Laid Down on The Clean Socks

Trip to the Pediatrician
Today, we went to the pediatrician for Jackson's 15 month checkup! He weighs 21 pounds 1 ounce and is 28.5 inches long! He's around the 5th percentile for height and 10th percentile for weight! Parker also went today and he weights 9 pounds 10 ounces! Woah! The doctor said they look great and developmentally are right where they need to be!
Jackson is a great big brother! He always wants to be around Parker. He doesn't quite understand that he needs to be gentle (in the picture he's trying to climb into the swing with Parker) but Parker doesn't seem to mind. In fact, I think he enjoys watching Jackson most of all!
